I'm a real postgrad rep.

Well I can officaly say that I've been there, done that and got the t-shirt. You see, today I got my t-shirts which apparently means I'm now offical. It also means that I had to take lots of pretty pictures for all of the DSU's marketing materials (new students,  I'll warn you now, you will see lots of my mug during the summer on paperwork). Now you see, I'm not photogenic. This here is one of the rare photos that I actually don't look derpy and that's because Jess (your new VP Welfare and Community) made me laugh. So spare a moment for the poor photographer who had to attempt to make this mug look photogenic.

I had to do happy Kelly and fold my arms as if I was selling something on TV. Then there was serious Kelly, who then burst out laughing and then made the photographer laugh because I looked like a puffer fish. Finally there was YMCA Kelly who had to smile whilst recreating the iconic dance moves infront of a group of important lecturers. It got to the point that I didn't know who was going to burst into a fit of laughter me or the photographer.

I have also been arranging more meetings. Lots of glorious meetings. Next week I have a meeting with DMU Sport reference their 'DMU Active' scheme. A scheme that allows staff and students to acccess recreational sport without the pressure of a competitive club. It is also designed to be flexible which will be a real plus for me promoting it to postgrads.

I also have a meeting next week with Adele from the DSU and Louise (your new mature students rep) to discuss plans for events that will take place during Freshfest 17. So keep an eye out on this blog and my social media to find out more details.

I also sat in a talk about how DSU Advice helps with immigration. We are 1 of only 3 universities currently in the UK that has a separate SU advice service designed to help with visas and other immigration issues. I also learnt that applying to studying here, is very expensive and something that UK students very much take for granted. So if there are any postgrads who are struggling with any immigration issues, let me know and I will point you in their direction.

Finally I went and did a little bit of bonding with Arty (your new president), Mollie (your new DP Education) and Jess. Which meant that we went to Gelato Village for a frozen treat, if you have time, I would highly recommend a visit and you have to try their Goji Berry and avacado gelato. On paper it's very bizzare, however the colour of it is gorgeous and the smoothness of the avacado compliments the slight tartiness of the Goji Berry.

So that's my day. I shall fill you guys in on any further developments.

Toodle pips,

Kelly
