A little bit about me...

I understand that alot of people don't actually know me. Obviously, I said at the start of the the blog what I plan to do, however contary to popular belief I am more than a few words and photos. I also feel that if I tell you a little bit about me, then that makes me more human and thus could inspire one of your mortals to join the land of the gods (other names for the exec team are available). So let me tell you a little bit about me. Favourites:  Colour: Ocean Blue Animal: Dolphins. TV Show: A toss up between Survivor (which is an American reality TV show where 20 strangers are standed and have to vote each other off) or Ru Paul's Drag Race (which is lots of gay men who dress up as women and compete for money).  Film: Either The Little Mermaid or Big Hero 6 . Both are fantastic Disney films. Book: Marley and Me. I cried, alot. Bands/Artists: Little Mix, Cascada, Italobrothers, 2-4 Grooves and Scooter. Arts and crafts

There are perks to being an officer. Of course, the SU doesn't tell you about these, mainly because we don't want people to run for these roles for the wrong reasons. One of the perks is that we get to partake in a couple of rounds of arts and crafts. Now this is mainly because of teambuilding since we all each had to write something nice in said boxed. As you can see, I am not artisitically inclined, instead I prefer to write (and I'll be honest, I'm alot better at it) and thus my box is a little bit more abstract in how it demostrates my personality. I chose the rainbow feathers because I see myself as a bright and colourful character. The pink is because I'm very loving and it looked nicer on the lid. I'm a little bit annoyed that I'm not as artistic as my fellow collegues but hey ho, I'm hoping that my role doesn't involved too many brightly coloured boxes. I am also in contact with SULETs to see whether we can look to extend the ...

I'm a real postgrad rep.

Well I can officaly say that I've been there, done that and got the t-shirt. You see, today I got my t-shirts which apparently means I'm now offical. It also means that I had to take lots of pretty pictures for all of the DSU's marketing materials (new students,  I'll warn you now, you will see lots of my mug during the summer on paperwork). Now you see, I'm not photogenic. This here is one of the rare photos that I actually don't look derpy and that's because Jess (your new VP Welfare and Community) made me laugh. So spare a moment for the poor photographer who had to attempt to make this mug look photogenic. I had to do happy Kelly and fold my arms as if I was selling something on TV. Then there was serious Kelly, who then burst out laughing and then made the photographer laugh because I looked like a puffer fish. Finally there was YMCA Kelly who had to smile whilst recreating the iconic dance moves infront of a group of important lecturers. It got ...

Hola, Hello, Bonjour, Salut, Guten Tag, etc.

Hi. I'm Kelly Davies and incase you've been hiding under a rock (or avoiding the several election emails), I am your new Postgraduate Rep at the De Montfort Student's Union. This means I will be in charge of looking after the best interests of all Masters, PHD and Research students at De Montfort University (hereby refered to as DMU). Needless to say, I have to represent alot of students. Alot of people will be wondering just what I have planned for this year. A lot of things is the simple answer. I have promised alot of things to the Postgrad community in my manifesto so my biggest problem is making sure I fufil these promises. For record, I said the following in my manifesto: I want to organise a day and night time event during this year's FreshFest exclusive for Postgraduate students. This will allow new students to meet fellow postgrads and older students to meet postgrads from other courses/faculities.  I also want to get more postgraduate students involved...
