Yay for Purda!

I have some bad news guys, The DSU have taken my officer twitter away for the month. This is because of this magical thing called purda which essentially means that this is the only way that I can communicate what I have been up to until Easter Break. It's a bit crappy but hey ho, rules are rules! However, Twitter aside, I have been on many adventures this week mainly surrounding the UCU strikes. I had the pleasure of meeting representatives from the UCU on Monday who told me about why Universities up and down the country began their strikes on Thursday and what I can do to stand in solidarity. Then on Thursday, I went to the UoL campus after my 2nd teaching assessment to put our varsity beef to one side and stand with my PG brothers and sisters who are having to strike. Standing in solidarity with UoL.  I sincerely hope that the Universities UK board start to sort themselves out and listen to my peers across the UK. It's not fair for the lecturers who want to te...

This week in Officer land

It's been another busy week in officer land and student land and just all the other lands but loose. This week I had the 'joy' of a 2 hour council with 8 policies, conference planning and 2 RAG events. My week began on Tuesday with the first of 2 DSU RAG events, a charity talent show. Entry was £5 and the funds were being split between LOROS, RNIB and Asthma UK. Unfortunately, my spoken word piece was not enough to win the funds, but I was a relatively enjoyable evening nevertheless. Not to mention, we must have raised about £100 on the night for charity. Then it was Thursday where I took part in an art class as part of Demi's See the Invisable campaign. The art class focused on autism and we all spoke about our experiences whilst painting pretty pictures using masking tape. Here's one I made earlier. Our paintings from the autism art class. It was very interesting to hear about other people's experiences and I think was a very good call on Demi...

In memorum of Thomas

Well, it's been a long and busy week so I think it's best if I just explain what has been going on in Chronological order.  So last Thursday, I was lucky enough to be invited to talk about mental health at a PG level. It was very humbling to open up and talk about what I went through over the previous terms. The event was very well attended and the free pizza was very delicious.  You may also notice the green T-shirt. This was because I was taking part in the faculty games straight after. The faculty challenge was a game-show inspired event where the 4 faculties, our educational partners and the random members of staff that didn't belong in any of the faculties duked it out for glory. Games included a bizarre cross between  Hungry Hippos and a wheelbarrow race (I managed to lift a whole 18 stone+ man for 2 minutes plus #MissBigGuns), a bizarre version of taboo, a feeding challenge and an obstacle course. Team ADH came last that day (I don't know why g...
