I have some bad news guys,
The DSU have taken my officer twitter away for the month. This is because of this magical thing called purda which essentially means that this is the only way that I can communicate what I have been up to until Easter Break. It's a bit crappy but hey ho, rules are rules!
However, Twitter aside, I have been on many adventures this week mainly surrounding the UCU strikes. I had the pleasure of meeting representatives from the UCU on Monday who told me about why Universities up and down the country began their strikes on Thursday and what I can do to stand in solidarity.
Then on Thursday, I went to the UoL campus after my 2nd teaching assessment to put our varsity beef to one side and stand with my PG brothers and sisters who are having to strike.

I sincerely hope that the Universities UK board start to sort themselves out and listen to my peers across the UK. It's not fair for the lecturers who want to teach and the students who want to learn. It's times like this that I'm grateful that DMU is a post 92 University and therefore unaffected by the proposed pension changes, hence why we didn't strike directly.
When I wasn't telling men in suits to 'pull their finger out of their arse and sort their shit out', I was starting to analyse some of the results from DSU's big Survey. What was very interesting was that many distance learners do not feel part of the SU and they don't feel supported. I really want to fix this, so I am currently writing a proposal to install some plans in place to better support these students.
I have also been speaking to a variety of PG students about what I can do to help them following a mass email going to their inbox.
I'm going to have a nice relaxing weekend off because I'm shattered thanks to all of my adventures,
Until next week folks,
toodle pips
