Look mum, I'm on the website.

There comes a time in every person's life where they make their mother proud. For some it's getting a degree, others it's riding a bike for the first time without dying. I like to think that this particular moment is one that would make my mother proud:

Look it's little old me, dead centre of all the postgrad reps. Granted, I don't exactly look photogenic but that's because I can't take photos for the life of me. So anyway, you'll be seeing this mug everywhere, from the website to the DSU booklets (I've had a sneak peak earlier, they look amazing) to the Campus Centre. It's all very bizzare to be quite truthful but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

So what have I been doing since I last wrote an entry (I'm sorry it's been so long. I was celebrating the fact that I got a degree and was accepted onto my masters)? Well I met with Jake Betts from DMU Sport to talk about DMU Active. For those who don't know, DMU Active is an updated and enhanced version of the previous Campus 330 scheme and is made of 4 parts:
  • Recreational sport: From Handball to Waterpolo and everything in between.
  • DMU Activators: Students with a big interest in sport can voluenter to take sessions, these hours go on your HEAR report and you have the chance to gain coaching qualifications as well.
  • Campaigns: DMU Sport want to work more with the DSU on our campaigns this year which is very exciting.
  • Courses: Can't swim? Never climbed before? Then look to sign up to these and they'll bring you up to speed.
It's fantastic that DMU Sport have taken the best things about Campus 330 and given them upgrades and I can't wait to get the final timetable so I can shout about it next year.

I also had an exclusive look at the clearing office yesterday after my campus tour. At the moment, there are 4 happy people's who are waiting to answer your calls on all things DMU, Clearing and Postgraduate Studies. I will be doing my clearing training at the end of the month ready for results day so you might be hearing my chirpy voice on August 17th.
The view for the clearing team until September. Don't worry they are fed and watered.

I also met with Adele who is in charge of putting together all the events for your #FreshFest17. I've actually got 2 things planned with Louise (your new mature students officer) of which I will tell you at the end of the month. Let's just say that I would mark the 25th and the 27th September in the diaries now, if you want cake and biscuits.  I also got an exclusive look at this year's #FreshFest branding. I can't tell you what it is otherwise Adele will kill me, but as soon as I'm allowed to say, I will do. Let's just say, it's very good.

Finally I have just met with the DSU Voice team to discuss my plans for this academic year. It's really exciting to have all of my plans finalised and to discuss my year. Hint, keep an eye out for a special week in January, that I'm currently starting to plan.

Next week, I shall be taking over the computers on Wednesday as I will be on the DMU online chat. So if any prospective students have any questions, come online on Wednesday and I will try and answer them.

Until then peoples,

Toodle pips.
