The difference between masters and undergrad.

Howdy ho folks,

It's week 2 of masters land and I am already lost.

You see undergrad and postgrad are 2 different demons. Undergrad, you have separate lecturers for different modules. So when it comes to thinks like additional reading, you can remember what reading you were supposed to have read because you asscociate an article with a particular lecturer. Also the modules didn't really mix, the best you got was a 'oh this is building on from last year.'

Postgrad meanwhile, is a melting pot. Different modules are start murging together and I'm pretty sure I see some lecturers more than I see my mother (we daily facetime for about half an hour). Whilst the same lecturer for lots of classes has its perks (them being able to get to know you, correct names by day 2, etc.), it doesn't half bloody confuse me when the lecturers ask us if we've done the reading. Hence 27 MA students all replying back with 'which one.'

It's also far more challenging than what I thought it would ever be. However what keeps me going is the fact that the subject is very interesting and I know that it's going to give me an advantage when I do my teacher training.

So that's my Masters out of the way.  This afternoon, I have a meeting with the activities team about increased postgrad participation.

Until then,

Toodle Pips,

Kelly
